Nguyen Thanh Hoa And Nguyen Van Duong: Key Figures In A Multi-Billion Dong Gambling Case

After their arrest and temporary detention, Nguyen Thanh Hoa expressed remorse and repentance, admitting to the violation of laws and the resulting impact and harm caused by his limited thinking and lofty ambitions.

Following a 13-day public trial and a 5-day deliberation, on November 30, 2018, the People’s Court of Phu Tho Province sentenced Nguyen Thanh Hoa to 10 years in prison and fined him 100 million dong for the charge of “Abusing Position and Power while Performing Official Duties.”

In his role within the billion-dong gambling network, Nguyen Thanh Hoa was the head of the C50 Department, responsible for leading and making decisions in the investigation, case formation, and crackdown on high-tech fraudulent activities. He had the authority to approve or disapprove matters related to the gaming portal operated by Phan Sao Nam. However, this gambling operation was ultimately dismantled through the collaborative efforts of the Hung Yen Police and Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Van from the Ministry of Public Security. Colonel Van initiated the case and conducted investigations starting from the Rikvip players, shedding light on the situation and dismantling the organized gambling network.

While Nguyen Thanh Hoa asserted that he only received 700 million dong from Nguyen Van Duong, the investigation revealed that he also received a percentage of the monthly revenue generated by the gaming platform. With profits reaching tens of billions of dong, Hoa could potentially earn billions of dong each month.

In summary, Nguyen Thanh Hoa is an individual connected to a multi-billion dong gambling case through the Rikvip gaming portal. He held a leadership role and had decision-making responsibilities within the C50 Department. However, this case was disrupted through the collaboration between the Hung Yen Police and Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Van from the Ministry of Public Security.
